Studio Taxonomy
At the intersection of collecting and nature meets taxonomy. As my final goodbye to my undergraduate program and my studio I made personalized boxes for every item in my studio. Every envelope, box, and container contains my studio. Memorializing and creating emphasis on every book, figurine, photo, and paint tube.
The studio acted as my habitat for a year, and amongst the other studios existed in an ecosystem of studios and people. I left the natural and imitative elements out for the viewers to see to separate idea of “real nature” from my cubicle of synthetic nature.
Playing into the aesthetic of the archive, I used recognizably office or muted colors. Objects are organized by the color of paper and related items are displayed together. The only thing hinting to what is inside are the dimensions of the specific boxes.
